The Story Behind the Jar
Where the Recipe Came From
The recipe belongs to Lindsay's grandmother. Lindsay learned it from her and passed it to Shannon in 2011. That's where Hot Mama Pickles begins — not with a business idea, but with a family recipe shared between two friends.
Every summer since, Shannon and Lindsay have made pickles together. The kids have grown up around it. The recipe hasn't changed. The process hasn't changed. What started as something made for the people they loved has become something they're ready to share with everyone.
Hot Mama Pickles is handcrafted in small batches using the commercial kitchen at Kelowna School for the Arts — part of the Mamas for Mamas community kitchen initiative. Purpose-driven from day one, with 50% of annual net proceeds going directly to Mamas For Mamas.
